2026 Silverado Trail Boss: What Changed, and Who It’s For

Every year we get the same question on the lot: Trail Boss or Z71? For 2026 the answer got easier, and it comes down to how far off the pavement you actually go.

The 2026 Silverado 1500 LT Trail Boss carries over the 2-inch factory suspension lift, 33-inch Goodyear DuraTrac tires, and the two-speed transfer case that made the last generation a favorite for Burke and Caldwell county job sites. What’s new is the 11-inch off-road information display and a retuned Z71 damper package that takes the harshness out of a gravel road at 45 mph.

The everyday trade-off

The lift costs you about 1 mpg on the highway and adds a step up into the cab. If your truck spends 90% of its life on US-70 and I-40, the standard LT with the Z71 package gets you most of the capability for around $3,000 less. We stock both, and we will happily park them next to each other so you can climb into each one.

Ask for the truck by stock number and we’ll have it pulled up front, warmed up, and ready before you park.
